Iran's Interior Minister on Cause of Explosion and Those Responsible
An explosion that claimed the lives of 65 people was caused by negligence and violations, as well as the failure to adhere to safety measures and civil protection regulations at the port, Iranian Tasnim agency reports.
"A commission has been established to conduct an investigation, and those responsible have been arrested. They have explained certain issues related to the explosion, and the investigation is ongoing. I already explained yesterday how this tragedy occurred. There was negligence, specifically violation of safety rules and carelessness," stated Iran's Interior Minister Eskandar Momenin.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the exact cause of the explosion; however, customs services at the port had previously indicated that it likely occurred due to the ignition of chemicals and hazardous materials stored in a warehouse.
