Israel Officially Requests Assistance from Several Countries, Including Azerbaijan

Ofelya

In the backdrop of raging forest fires in the outskirts of Jerusalem, Israel's Foreign Minister Gideon Saar has reached out to over ten countries seeking assistance in firefighting efforts, reports the Times of Israel.

“The minister has contacted the foreign ministers of the United Kingdom, France, Czech Republic, Sweden, Argentina, Spain, North Macedonia, and Azerbaijan. Israel has also formally requested help from Greece, Cyprus, Croatia, Italy, and Bulgaria, as local resources are unable to contain the rapidly spreading fires,” the report states.

Additionally, the local firefighting service has reported fires breaking out in at least five locations. The flames have spread quickly due to the heat and strong winds, complicating firefighting efforts. Dozens of people have been injured and have been transported to hospitals.
