Casualties Reported from Powerful Earthquake in Iran

A strong earthquake with a magnitude of 5 struck the northeastern Razavi Khorasan province of Iran, resulting in 19 injuries, according to Tasnim agency.

“There are casualties in the cities near the epicenter. Currently, it is known that 19 people have been injured. The number of injured is likely to increase; however, the injuries are minor, and everyone's condition is stable,” the publication reports.

It is noteworthy that the governor of Razavi Khorasan mentioned in an interview with Mehr that the earthquake was recorded near the city of Rashtkhar, at a depth of 10 kilometers. The earthquake occurred at 5 a.m.

Assessment teams have been dispatched to the area to evaluate the material damage. The tremor was also felt in the nearby cities of Khaf and Torbat Heydarieh.
