China's Foreign Ministry: The U.S. Should Not Mislead the Public, We Are Not Negotiating
China and the United States are not negotiating over the tariffs imposed by the American side on Chinese goods. This was stated by China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Geng Shuang, during a press briefing, as reported by RIA Novosti.
"The Chinese and American sides are not conducting consultations or negotiations regarding the tariffs. The United States should not mislead the public," said the Chinese Foreign Ministry representative.
Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that the U.S. is actively negotiating with China regarding bilateral trade and tariffs, adding that the dialogue is going well. He announced on April 2 the imposition of tariffs on goods from 185 countries and territories. Russia is not included in this list. The 10% universal tariffs took effect on April 5, while individual tariffs came into force on April 9.
