What Drives the Art of Teaching Young Boys to Swear: Pashinyan
Teaching a young child to swear is an act of violence, gender discrimination, and the imposition of stereotypes, stated Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during today's Government session.
"In our country, there is this phenomenon where you have to wear black clothes and pointed shoes, because otherwise they will say, 'Why is he like this?' Fortunately, this is changing, but it is changing thanks to education. Just as there are stereotypes that prevent women from working, there are also stereotypes that prevent men from learning. There are stereotypes that hinder women from showing public activity, and similarly, there are stereotypes that say boys shouldn't think outside the box because there is only one right way that they must stick to," Pashinyan pointed out.
According to the Prime Minister, many of the problems in the army stem from our cultural attitude towards the environment. "In Armenia, it is shameful for a man to clean; the issue is not about the man, it's about the environment. Living among waste is not shameful, but cleaning it up can be seen as shameful for a man, and that can be a mortal sin. Then they wonder how that happened in the army," the Prime Minister emphasized.
