Gunmen Open Fire on Tourists in India, Casualties Reported
Armed individuals opened fire on a group of tourists in the Indian-administered region of Kashmir. This was reported by the AFP agency.
It is noted that there are approximately 25 casualties, according to Indian television reports.
Pahalgam, where the shooting took place, is a popular tourist destination. It is located in a disputed area claimed by both India and Pakistan.
The agency connected with a local guide named Wahid, who, upon hearing the gunfire, arrived at the scene to evacuate several injured individuals.
The attackers were reportedly three in number. The head of the Oman district, Abdullah, posted on X that the exact number of casualties is still being confirmed and promised that official information would be provided once the situation is clarified.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi described the incident as a terrorist attack and expressed condolences to those who lost their loved ones, but did not specify the number of casualties.
