A Portrait Gifted by Putin to Trump Has Been Released

Julya

A portrait gifted by Russian President Vladimir Putin to U.S. President Donald Trump in March has been released. The portrait was showcased by CNN.

The artist behind the painting is renowned artist Nikas Safronov. It was brought from Russia by Trump's special representative Stephen Witkoff, who described it as a "beautiful portrait by a leading Russian painter."

The painting depicts U.S. President Trump with a raised fist and streaks of blood on his face, serving as a reminder of the assassination attempt he faced during his campaign speech in Pennsylvania on July 13, 2024. The American flag waves behind Trump, and in the background, the Statue of Liberty and New York’s Manhattan are visible.

"It was important for me to portray his courage at the moment of the assassination attempt. He was neither broken nor afraid, but raised his hand and showed that he stands united with America and will return to the country what it deserves," Safronov said in an interview with the channel.

The artist noted that upon receiving the commission for the portrait, he immediately understood that this work could aid in the rapprochement of the two countries, and therefore he did not ask for payment for his work.
