My life is again under threat of assassination. This was announced by the newly elected mayor of Gyumri, Vardan Ghukasian, during a conversation with journalists.

“They are deliberately linking us to criminal elements. We have information that some malicious act is being plotted against us again. By associating us with criminals, they are preparing the ground to once again pin this on the criminals. I am telling them now, if there is an attack again, all evidence will be sent to all legal institutions, to the presidents, about who might be behind this. This is a second series of 2007—an assassination attempt is being prepared,” said Ghukasian.

It should be noted that on April 2, 2007, shots were fired from a car with unknown license plates at the service 'Mercedes' vehicle of Gyumri Mayor Vardan Ghukasian, with plate number 051 LL 50, and the accompanying 'Gaz-3110' vehicle with plate number 770 LL 10, near the Ashtarak-Gyumri highway close to the city of Ashtarak.
