Khachatur Sukiasyan Apologizes: Response from Artsakh Information Headquarters

Julya

On April 17, Armenian National Assembly member Khachatur Sukiasyan stated in an interview with the media that the people of Artsakh did not fight in 2023. This was reported by the Artsakh Information Headquarters.

The governmental representative not only expressed his erroneous opinion regarding the struggle of the people of Artsakh but also justified a previous statement made by the Chairman of the National Assembly of Armenia, Alen Simonyan, asserting that the people of Artsakh should have stayed and fought. The authorities of Artsakh strongly condemn the irresponsible behavior of Armenian National Assembly member Khachatur Sukiasyan, which contains elements of hatred towards the people of Artsakh and inter-ethnic division.

The headquarters reminds us, “We are forced to reiterate that during the military operations unleashed by Azerbaijan against Artsakh on September 19, 2023, 265 servicemen were killed, 21 civilians died, and 14 citizens went missing.”

Shortly after the interview, Khachatur Sukiasyan apologized, addressing comments regarding the victims of September 19.
“In my interview today, while discussing the Azerbaijani aggression of 2023, I mistakenly referred to 10 casualties instead of 210. I apologize for mentioning the incorrect number and want to emphasize that there was no intention behind it. I bow before the memory of all the martyrs,” stated the National Assembly member.
