Armenia Will Not Be Semi-Independent, Says Sona Ghazaryan

The agreed articles of the peace treaty apply equally to all countries, and if it signifies capitulation for one party, it is equally capitulation for the other party. This was stated by Sona Ghazaryan, a member of the ‘Civil Contract’ faction, during the National Assembly’s session on April 16, addressing the opposition's criticism that the agreed document is a form of capitulation.

“I do not believe that this document is capitulation, and I see no reason not to sign it as soon as possible,” the deputy remarked, adding, “Some countries continue to make noise. This noise is being brought in from abroad by certain parliamentary forces, meaning very specific parliamentary forces, and this will not succeed. Within this noise, we will see that Armenia and Azerbaijan have made significant progress in the negotiation process. This noise will not overshadow the success achieved by the current authorities, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and all the departments that have been involved in the process at various stages.

The conflict will not succeed in becoming permanent, and Armenia will not be semi-independent. Armenia will be an independent, sovereign state, and we will relentlessly pursue peace.”
