Whitcoff on Meeting with Putin
The U.S. is moving forward with negotiations regarding an agreement with Russia over the situation in Ukraine. This was stated by Stephen Whitcoff, a special envoy for U.S. President Donald Trump, during an appearance on Fox News.
He responded to a question about whether he is confident that an agreement with Russia regarding Ukraine is underway. “Yes, I am confident. I have already had three meetings with Putin. The last meeting lasted about five hours, and in the room were also two of his close advisers—Russian President’s assistant Yuri Ushakov and CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund Kirill Dmitriev. It was an important meeting,” he noted.
Whitcoff added that the negotiations in St. Petersburg convinced him that “Putin wants a lasting peace.”
