New Support for Artsakh Residents: Who Qualifies
If a family's total income does not exceed 55,000 dram per person, that family will be considered eligible for a new support program aimed at residents of Artsakh. The assistance will be provided in the form of monthly cash aid from April to December, as announced by Artak Harutyunyan, the head of the demographic and family social guarantees division at the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of Armenia, during a press conference unveiling the new support program for those forcibly displaced from Artsakh.
The amount of assistance will be set at 40,000 dram, plus an additional 10,000 dram for each family member starting from the second member. “If a family consists of five members and their income is below 55,000 dram, they will be considered eligible and will receive 40,000 dram support for the family, plus another 10,000 dram for each additional family member starting from the second,” he explained. This means, “40,000 dram + 40,000 dram,” resulting in a total of 80,000 dram,” he added.
Families under state sponsorship, including individuals residing in social institutions such as orphanages and nursing homes, will not be able to benefit from this assistance. Additionally, those who have been included in the social housing fund with governmental support or who reside in government-provided areas without issues regarding rent payment will also be excluded from this support. Previously, it was reported that alongside the housing support program for forcibly displaced persons from Artsakh, additional urgent social support measures are underway for vulnerable families displaced from Artsakh.
