Ministry of Internal Affairs on the Closure of Yerevan-Ashtarak Highway
As of now, the Yerevan-Ashtarak highway is closed in both directions. The Police are present on site, and the patrol service is accompanying transport vehicles via alternative routes. This was reported to Auroranews by the spokesperson for the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Narek Sargsyan.
It is noteworthy that the residents of Proshyan and Kasakh villages have once again blocked the Yerevan-Ashtarak highway this morning, April 8. The reason for this action is the removal of buses servicing routes 25 and 59 by the authorities, who are planning to replace them with more expensive buses, causing the route to be shortened.
Following a 2.5-hour meeting between the residents of Proshyan and the Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration, it has become clear that the government will not change its decision. Meanwhile, the company servicing Gagik Tsarukyan is ready to reduce the transport fare by 50 drams, bringing it down to 200 drams.
