It Will Be Very Bad for That Country: Trump

The possible failure of negotiations between Washington and Tehran will have extremely negative consequences for Iran, putting the country at great risk. This was stated by U.S. President Donald Trump.

"I believe that if the negotiations with Iran are not successful, Iran will be in great danger," he said in response to a journalist's question about whether the U.S. is prepared to take military action to dismantle the Islamic Republic's nuclear program. "Iran cannot have nuclear weapons. If the negotiations fail, I think that day will be very bad for that country," Trump added during a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House.

The U.S. president did not respond to a clarifying question about whether his words should be interpreted as a confirmation of U.S. readiness to strike the Islamic Republic. "Iran cannot have nuclear weapons. That is the bottom line," he reiterated. "Now we can reach an agreement on that later," noted the Washington administration head.

During his meeting with Netanyahu, Trump mentioned that Washington and Tehran are engaged in direct consultations. As the U.S. leader pointed out, the U.S. would prefer to resolve the issue of Iran's nuclear advancements through negotiations.
