Brutal Murder in Yerevan: Suspects Arrested
On March 31, at 11:17 AM, a man reported to the police that his friend, who lived at Number 11, Hamo Sahyan Street in Yerevan, had not answered his phone calls for about two days. The Ministry of Internal Affairs reported this.
Following the call, officers from various units of the Criminal Police and Community Police were dispatched. They discovered the body of Marat Suvorov, a 54-year-old man living alone. His hands and feet were bound, and he had multiple stab wounds across his body. The body was found in the bedroom on the floor, where blood stains were present. The front door of Suvorov's apartment was open, and the house was in disarray. It was clear that the authorities were dealing with a murder committed with extreme brutality and for selfish motives.
Marat Suvorov was engaged in trading precious coins. The crime scene included scattered coins in the hallway of his home. There is a hypothesis that the murder was carried out with the intention of stealing the valuable coins.
Officers from the Anti-Crime Department of the Criminal Police initiated extensive operational and investigative measures, which yielded results just hours after the incident. According to Captain Hayk Hakobyan, a senior officer in the department, four individuals came into their operational focus as suspects in the particularly serious crime.
It was determined that two of them, 58-year-old Vahram A. and 35-year-old Aram O., had previously given stolen coins to Suvorov for sale, establishing a certain relationship that led them to learn that he kept valuable coins on his premises.
Additionally, they sought out a 28-year-old acquaintance from Yerevan, Harout K., to ascertain Suvorov's exact address. Harout tracked Suvorov, discovered where he lived, and passed that information to Vahram A. and Aram O.
Investigators also learned that Vahram A. and Aram O. discussed their intentions to rob Suvorov with Harout K. Following their acquisition of Suvorov's address, Vahram A. and Aram O. attempted several unsuccessful robbery attempts near his home, hindered by the busy street.
To successfully execute their criminal plan, Vahram A. also informed his 38-year-old son about it.
Preliminary findings indicate that on the night of March 30, 2025, Aram O., Vahram A., and his son went to Hamo Sahyan Street in Yerevan. Aram O. and Vahram A. illegally entered Suvorov's house, bound his hands and feet, and inflicted numerous wounds on vital areas of his body, including the neck, resulting in Suvorov's death. They then stole valuable coins and other items from his residence, while Vahram A.'s son waited in a vehicle for his father and Aram O.
As a result of operational work, Yerevan's criminal police also established that on the following day, after the incident, Aram O. and Harout K. left for the Tavush region to cross the border and sell the loot outside Armenia. However, they were apprehended before they could do so and were taken to the Anti-Crime Department in Yerevan.
A personal search of Aram O. revealed a wallet belonging to Marat Suvorov, a gold medal bearing the likeness of Grigor Narekatsi, and several dozen silver and bronze coins.
Subsequent actions also led to the discovery and arrest of Vahram A. and his son. All four were presented to the investigative unit of the Arabkir administrative district.
Aram O. and Vahram A. were charged with committing murder with extreme brutality and robbery with illegal entry, while Vahram A.'s son and Harout K. were accused of assisting in the robbery by illegally entering the residence.
All four have been detained and transported to penal institutions. The investigation is ongoing.
