Russia's Foreign Ministry: Threats to Strike Iran's Nuclear Infrastructure Are Unacceptable
Moscow and Tehran have announced that military threats against Iran's nuclear infrastructure are unacceptable. This was stated by the Russian Foreign Ministry following a meeting between Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov and his Iranian counterpart Majid Takht-Ravanchi.
During the negotiations, the parties emphasized the inadmissibility of the use of force in addressing issues related to the nuclear program, noting that threats from third countries to bomb Iran's nuclear facilities could lead to radiological and humanitarian disasters in the region.
The parties confirmed their intention to continue searching for effective solutions to Iran's nuclear program within the framework of negotiations with China, with the latest consultations taking place on March 14 in Beijing. The right of Iran to use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes in accordance with the Non-Proliferation Treaty was also declared.
The Russian diplomatic service criticized the actions of Western countries, accusing them of artificially exacerbating tensions surrounding Iran's nuclear program. It was noted that the West ignores its own violations of UN Security Council Resolution 2231 and exploits the IAEA's verification capabilities for political purposes.
