Musk to Leave His Position in the Coming Weeks: Politico
U.S. President Donald Trump has informed his close associates and staff that Elon Musk, the head of the U.S. Government's Efficiency Department (DOGE), will be leaving his position in the coming weeks, according to Politico, citing sources.
Trump stated the day before that he intends to keep Musk in the government for as long as possible. “President Donald Trump has told his inner circle, including members of the government, that Elon Musk will step down from his current role as managing partner in the coming weeks,” the publication reports.
According to sources, Trump is pleased with Musk and DOGE, but both have decided that it is time for the entrepreneur to return to business. The publication notes that some officials within Trump’s administration and many external allies have been frustrated by Musk’s unpredictability. One source indicated that Musk is likely to maintain an informal advisory role.
