Focus on Opportunities that Will Open for Armenia, Azerbaijan, and the Entire Region

“It is very good news that the agreement has been finalized. In our opinion, the sooner this document is signed, the better it will be for both countries and the entire region,” said Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht Ravanchi in an interview with Public Television.

Noting that there has been much bloodshed, hatred, and war in the region, the Iranian official stated that it is time to put an end to it.

He urged to focus on the opportunities that will open not only for Armenia and Azerbaijan but for the entire region. “Iran, as a friend of both countries, is ready to extend a hand of friendship to Armenia and Azerbaijan, and we will not hesitate to do everything possible to promote the improvement of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan,” Ravanchi said.

The Deputy Foreign Minister acknowledged that there have been problems between the two countries, but emphasized that a military solution cannot resolve them, as it is always a temporary fix.

“The past is in the past. Now is the time for both peoples to see what opportunities exist for regulating relations,” stated the Iranian official, noting that there is great potential in the economic sphere, and the entire region would benefit from the signing of a peace agreement.
