Volcano Erupts in Iceland
A volcano has begun to erupt in Iceland. The fissure from which lava and smoke are emanating has reached the fortifications north of the town of Grindavik, reports RBC.
Two years ago, Grindavik had a population of 3,800, but most of its residents left after the last eruption. Authorities are now urging those who remain in the area to evacuate, as the current eruption could be more powerful than previous ones.
Since 2021, this volcano has erupted for the 11th time.
