Europe Has Many Options Against the U.S., Says von der Leyen

The European Union has all the necessary tools to protect itself from the new U.S. tariffs. This was stated by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, according to TASS.

“If necessary, we have a reliable program for countermeasures, and we will use it. The European Union does not wish to take retaliatory action as a matter of obligation; we want to resolve everything through negotiations,” she said.

According to the head of the European Commission, Europe’s strength lies not only in trade but also in technology, and European businesses are important to American tech companies.

“The European Commission can use various legal tools to limit access to public contracts or the sale of digital advertising in the market. Europe has many options,” von der Leyen noted.
