No Armenian Citizens Among Those Killed in Myanmar Earthquake
No information is available regarding Armenian citizens among those killed in the recent earthquake in Myanmar. Ani Badalyan, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated this in an interview with Armenpress.
On March 28, two powerful earthquakes struck Myanmar, registering magnitudes of 7.7 and 6.4. The tremors were felt in neighboring Thailand, as well as in China, Cambodia, Bangladesh, and India.
According to the latest reports, the earthquakes have resulted in 1,002 fatalities in Myanmar, with more than 2,376 people injured. Rescue operations are ongoing in the region, and local authorities indicate that the number of victims and those affected is still likely to rise.
According to the global seismic risk map, Myanmar is classified in the red zone, indicating a region of high seismic activity. On March 29, it was reported that another earthquake occurred in Myanmar with a magnitude of 5.1.
