National Assembly Issues Announcement

In order to effectively organize security, protection, pass, and internal object regime at the National Assembly premises and building, I inform that journalists accredited in the National Assembly may bring banners into the National Assembly building without any offensive, defamatory, threatening, or calls for violence expressions. This announcement was made by the head of the National Assembly staff, Davit Arakelyan.

“These banners will be inspected in advance by the employees of the State Protection Service at the checkpoint, after which, with the permission of the head of the National Assembly staff, it will be possible to bring these banners into the National Assembly premises. Dear journalists, please adhere to the aforementioned guidelines,” he added.

It is noteworthy that on March 26, when the Parliament-Government Q&A session was about to begin, accredited journalists at the National Assembly attempted to stage a protest by holding up a banner featuring MP Andranik Kocharyan's image with texts “Say Sorry” and “Andranik Kocharyan, clean your lips,” which was grossly prevented by the employees of the State Protection Service.

This follows a recent incident in the National Assembly where MP Andranik Kocharyan exhibited offensive behavior towards Hripsime Jebejyan, the head of the news service of Tribune.am.
