The leader of North Korea, Kim Jong Un, has been awarded the "80th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War" commemorative medal by Russian President Vladimir Putin. This information was reported by the Russian Embassy in Pyongyang.

According to the statement, the ceremony for the presentation of the medal took place recently. The medal was conferred on Kim Jong Un by the decree of the President of Russia, dated September 2, 2024, in recognition of his substantial personal contribution to perpetuating the memory of Soviet citizens buried in the territory of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
