Casualties and Destruction: Fires Continue in South Korea
Forest fires, fueled by strong winds, have devastated southern regions of South Korea. According to apnews.com, 18 people have died, over 200 buildings have been destroyed, and 27,000 people have been evacuated.
Officials reported that a helicopter was downed during efforts to extinguish the forest fires in Wizeong, a city in the southeast that has been one of the hardest-hit areas. The Korea Forest Service has confirmed that rescue operations are ongoing.
