German Government Resigns Under Chancellor Olaf Scholz
The German government, led by Chancellor Olaf Scholz, has officially resigned from its duties. President Frank-Walter Steinmeier informed the Chancellor and ministers of their mandate's expiration on March 25, ahead of the first session of the newly convened Bundestag.
As of now, a new cabinet of ministers has not yet been formed. According to media reports, the former cabinet will continue to operate in a caretaker capacity until a new government is established. Friedrich Merz, who heads the CDU and aims for the chancellorship, is set to present a new team by April 20.
