Arpi Davoyan Interrogated in Criminal Case

Arpi Davoyan, a member of the Armenian National Assembly from the 'Civil Contract' faction, has been interrogated in connection with a criminal case. This information was reported by the 'Zhoghovurd' newspaper.

The newspaper submitted an inquiry to the Office of the Prosecutor General regarding a case investigated by the Investigative Committee of Armenia's State Revenue Committee (SRC) in 2018, which involved Davoyan. Preliminary information suggests that she established LLCs, conducted certain import activities, and then deceived the state. She was even interrogated in the SRC's investigative department after April 2018.

The newspaper attempted to clarify the nature of the case against Arpi Davoyan, her legal status, and what factual circumstances have been established regarding her activities.

In response to the inquiry, the Prosecutor General's office stated that citizen Arpi Davoyan was interrogated as a witness within the framework of the criminal proceedings being conducted by the Main Department for Investigation of Economic Crimes and Smuggling of the Investigative Committee of Armenia. She has not held any other procedural status in this matter. The preliminary investigation is ongoing.

“Thus, Arpi Davoyan, who constantly gives moral lessons to her opponents from the podium of the National Assembly, is being treated as a witness in a criminal case. Of course, there is a step from witness to defendant, but perhaps not under Nikol Pashinyan’s government. Or that may happen when Arpi Davoyan leaves her faction,” the publication stated.
