EU Leaders Reject Putin's Demands, Except Orbán

The European Union has rejected Vladimir Putin's demand to halt military assistance to Ukraine as part of negotiations for a ceasefire. EU leaders, with the exception of Hungary's Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, have dismissed this request.

In a declaration adopted at the Brussels summit, the heads of state and government reaffirmed their commitment to continue supplying weapons and ammunition to support the Ukrainian armed forces in their defense against Russia's large-scale invasion.

Slovakia, which shares a similar stance with Hungary, has aligned with the majority in this case. The statement also noted that the EU will continue to exert pressure on Russia and enhance Ukraine's defense capabilities through regular financial and military support.

During the summit, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the leaders via video link, stating, without naming Orbán, that it is “simply an anti-European stance when one person blocks decisions that are important for the entire continent or have already been agreed upon.”
