18-year-old Citizens Can Become Police Officers, Interior Minister Elaborates
During a session at the National Assembly, Interior Minister Arpine Sargsyan announced that a total of 3,691 crimes were detected by police officers in 2024 alone.
Presenting the results for 2024, Sargsyan noted that especially open calls for recruitment have been organized for criminal police, allowing civilian individuals to participate in the recruitment process.
“At this point, we have a number of civilian individuals who are working in the criminal police. In the case of community policing, an open competitive format for personnel selection will also be organized; those who pass this stage will be considered certified, which means that there is an opportunity to excel through all the processes, including obtaining a rank and an average financial compensation of 500,000 drams,” the minister said.
“We are legislating to remove the upper age limit of 35 years, allowing all citizens of Armenia who are at least 18 years old, speak Armenian, and are capable in terms of education, training, and physical attributes to perform the responsibilities set before the police to join the force,” she added.
