Trump Administration Cannot Take Steps to Close USAID

A federal court in the United States has barred President Trump's administration from taking steps to close the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). Judge Theodore Chuang stated that efforts to shut down the agency would likely violate the U.S. Constitution in several ways.

Chuang ordered the restoration of USAID employees' access to computers and payment systems, including those on leave. The judge also ruled that the termination of USAID employees should be halted, but did not order the reinstatement of previously laid-off employees.
