Sanctions Against Russia Will Only Be Eased Under One Condition: Whitcoff

The U.S. special envoy, Steve Whitcoff, has stated that sanctions against Russia will only be relaxed after an agreement on a ceasefire in Ukraine.

"We will achieve a ceasefire. I believe that after that, other issues such as the easing of sanctions will become details that will follow a comprehensive agreement on peace," he said.

During a phone conversation that took place on March 18, the leaders of the two countries did not discuss the issue of sanctions, but according to Whitcoff, that topic will be addressed later.
