Over 200 Dead in Gaza: What We Know
Israeli tanks have opened fire towards the eastern districts of the city of Abasan in the Gaza Strip, reports Al Jazeera. According to the channel's correspondent, the Israeli tanks are shelling the eastern neighborhoods of Abasan in Khan Younis, with a massive assault underway.
Earlier, the Israel Defense Forces stated that they are delivering "massive strikes against targets belonging to the Hamas terrorist organization in the Gaza Strip." Arab media reports indicate that airstrikes have primarily targeted densely populated areas, temporary schools, and residential buildings where people are seeking shelter.
It has been noted that the attacks are being carried out simultaneously, without prior warning in areas designated as safe humanitarian zones, including Al-Mawasin.
According to Palestinian health officials, the death toll in the enclave has reached 232, with expectations that these numbers may rise.
“Hamas could have released the hostages to extend the ceasefire, but instead, they chose to refuse and fight,” said White House National Security Council spokesperson Brian Hughes to the Times of Israel.
Meanwhile, Israel's permanent representative to the UN, Danny Danon, announced on X social media that Israel “will show no mercy to our enemies.”
“Israel will not stop until all our hostages are back home,” he stated. “We will make it clear to the Security Council that if they want to stop the war in Gaza, they must ensure the return of the hostages to Israel. We are determined to bring them back,” Danon emphasized.
At the same time, media reports indicate that Egyptian-American security forces are withdrawing their personnel from the Netzarim corridor, which runs centrally across the Gaza Strip from east to west.
