Residents of Voghjaberd Village Block Road Again
Residents of Voghjaberd village in Kotayk Province have blocked the road since early morning today, demanding the return of their former village head, Ashot Mushegyan. This has been reported by 24news.
A few days ago, the villagers had also blocked the road for the same issue, but their demands have remained unanswered until now. According to the residents, Ashot Mushegyan, whose powers were suspended months ago, has been unjustly removed from his position, and there has been no order of dismissal until today.
“This is a gross violation of the law. We declare that this act constitutes a criminal offense,” the protesters emphasized.
They are opposed to the appointment of the new village head, Grigor Melkonyan, whose father was also previously their village head. The villagers assure that the current head's father did nothing for their community, while Ashot Mushegyan made significant changes for the better.
The residents of Voghjaberd have addressed Kotayk Governor Aharon Sahakyan and submitted four letters to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, requesting a meeting to raise their concerns.
