Ministry of Health Clarifies Recall of Pharmaceuticals from Pharmacies

For the past two days, there has been information circulating in the media regarding the recall of certain medications from pharmacies. We officially inform that this recall is not related to the quality of the medicines, and those who have already purchased and used these medicines from pharmacies have no reason to worry as they are not only safe for health but also there are no issues regarding their effectiveness. The only reason for the recall is a documentation error. This was reported by the Ministry of Health.

According to the Armenian Law on Medicines, the holder of the registration certificate for a medicine is responsible for the safety, effectiveness, and quality of the registered product. Within the framework of this obligation, the holder of the registration certificate for several medicines, "Merk" LLC, has informed that the data of certain certificates of medicines imported by intermediary organizations do not match the original certificates provided by them. After receiving this information, the Ministry of Health of Armenia has expanded the framework of the examination conducted during the certification of importation (conformity) of medicines, including cooperation with the registration certificate holders and the competent authorities of the exporting country to verify the authenticity of accompanying documents, during which it became necessary to suspend the circulation of certain medicines and implement a recall.

We reiterate that the deficiency that serves as the basis for the decision to recall these medicines poses no danger to human health, as it does not concern the quality, safety, and effectiveness of the medicine.
