Lavrov Discusses Next Steps with Rubio

Secretary of State Marco Rubio discussed next steps during a phone call with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov following recent meetings in Saudi Arabia, the U.S. State Department reports. The department emphasized that Rubio and Lavrov agreed to continue working towards restoring ties between Moscow and Washington.

It is noted that high-level Russian-American negotiations took place in Riyadh on February 18. From Moscow, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Presidential Assistant Yuri Ushakov participated. Washington was represented by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, National Security Advisor Michael Waltz, and Special Envoy for the Middle East Steven Witkoff.
