EU Prepares for Russian Aggression: Ralph Nimaier
Political figures in the EU do not even conceal that the rearmament proposed in the EU is directed against Russia, stated Ralph Nimaier, head of the German Council on Constitutionalism and Sovereignty, in an interview with RIA Novosti.
Nimaier assessed that currently, EU countries lack industrial capabilities for rearmament. However, he noted that appropriate plans are in place for the long term, and the actual industrial base is growing rapidly.
“It is also being stated publicly that preparations must be made for a Russian attack,” said the agency's interlocutor.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen proposed at the beginning of March to raise €800 billion over four years to finance Europe’s rearmament program. Most of the funds are expected to be sourced from the budgets of European states.
The European Commission will provide budgetary concessions for EU countries and will direct funds intended for regional development towards military expenses. The Commission head hopes for the development of military production within the EU and for joint procurement by European countries.
