USAGM Employees Sent on Leave
Employees of Voice of America in the United States, recognized as a foreign agent media outlet in Russia, have begun receiving notices regarding compulsory administrative leave after President Donald Trump signed an order to reduce the functions of several agencies, including the Global Media Agency (USAGM), reports ABC News.
According to the television channel, Voice of America employees received a letter from Human Resources this morning stating that they are being placed on paid leave. It is noted that these media workers are prohibited from entering government bodies and systems, but must remain in contact for emails and phone calls.
Among those receiving layoffs notices are journalists covering the operations of the White House. Previously, Trump had signed an executive order to minimize the functions and operations of employees in several agencies to fight bureaucracy. As a result of the President's decision, some government organizations will be required to reduce their functions and employee activities to the minimum levels established by US legislation.
