Vladimir Putin Announces Agreement on Ceasefire
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced during a press conference that he agrees to the U.S. proposal to halt military operations in Ukraine. However, according to the Russian leader, this must lead to long-term peace.
“Russia agrees to proposals for ceasing military operations but emphasizes that it should result in long-term peace and the elimination of the root causes of the crisis,” Putin stated at a press conference following talks with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, as reported by RIA Novosti.
Putin also expressed gratitude to Trump for paying attention to the resolution of the situation in Ukraine. The Russian president highlighted that guarantees are needed for the ceasefire: “We want guarantees that during the 30-day ceasefire, Ukraine will not conduct conscriptions, will not carry out training, and will not receive weapons.”
It is worth noting that Ukraine has agreed to the U.S. proposal for a 30-day ceasefire across its entire territory.
