Peskov Comments on Russian Documents Obtained by European Intelligence

Russia is working on well-thought-out options for peacefully resolving the Ukrainian conflict, said presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov in an interview with the American newspaper Washington Post.

This statement comes as Peskov commented on a document in the hands of European intelligence, which allegedly was compiled by an anonymous Moscow analytical center with supposed connections to the FSB. The newspaper, citing the document, claims that Russia aims to weaken the US's position in negotiations concerning Ukraine by escalating its relationships with other countries. The publication attributes to Moscow the intention to resolve the Ukrainian crisis no earlier than 2026.

The spokesman for the Russian president stated that the Kremlin is “unaware of such proposals” and labeled them as “extremely contradictory.” “We are working on more considered options,” Peskov is quoted as saying by the newspaper.

Last Tuesday, a meeting took place in Saudi Arabia between Ukrainian and US delegations. Following the negotiations, Zelensky's office published a joint statement indicating that Kyiv is prepared to accept Washington's proposal for a 30-day ceasefire, which can be extended by mutual agreement of the parties. The document also states that the White House is immediately lifting the halt on intelligence sharing and resuming military supplies to Ukraine.

Peskov, in turn, indicated that Moscow does not wish to outpace the proposed ceasefire discussions. The Kremlin spokesman added that Russia and the US have planned contacts in the coming days, during which Moscow expects to receive comprehensive information about the meeting in Jeddah, which has violated the agreement.
