Ukrainian Woman Sold 56 Kidneys to Armenians and Azerbaijanis

Border guards in Poland have arrested a Ukrainian woman who had been sentenced to 12 years in prison in Kazakhstan for selling 56 kidneys in the "black market" as part of an organized crime group. According to Reuters, 35-year-old Ksenia P. had been wanted by Interpol since 2020. However, it remains unclear why she did not serve her sentence in Kazakhstan.

The woman was a member of an international organized crime group that illegally collected human tissues and organs and sold them on the black market between 2017 and 2019. She was convicted of acquiring kidneys illegally from 56 victims in Kazakhstan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Thailand, as well as for turning the crimes into a permanent source of income.

The prosecution has filed a motion with the court to impose a one-week temporary detention to facilitate her extradition to Kazakhstan.
