Russians Cannot Capture All of Ukraine, Says Marco Rubio
Ukraine is unlikely to reclaim all the territory occupied by Russia since 2014. This was stated by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, emphasizing that both Russia and Ukraine will have to make "difficult things" to end the conflict.
"There needs to be a strong sense that Ukraine is willing to do the difficult things, just as the Russians need to do difficult things to end this conflict," he told reporters, according to the New York Times.
According to the Secretary of State, both countries must understand that the conflict cannot be resolved militarily. "The Russians cannot capture all of Ukraine, and it is clear that it will be very difficult for Ukraine to force the Russians to return to where they were in 2014 in any reasonable timeframe," he added.
