Turkey Has Direct Influence on Ongoing Events, Says Araqchi

Turkey and several other countries have had a direct impact on the events taking place in Syria, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi stated in an interview with AFP.

“I don’t think anyone doubts that Turkey and several other countries have had a direct influence on the events occurring in Syria. Therefore, the issues that have arisen, such as the widespread occupation of Syrian territory by Israel, the destruction of Syria’s entire defensive and scientific infrastructure by it, and all the conflicts that have resulted from this, are naturally the responsibility of those who have made these changes and developments,” Araqchi noted.

However, according to him, this does not mean that Iran is in conflict with Turkey. “No, we will continue our friendly relations and will continue our consultations on regional issues,” added Abbas Araqchi.

It is noteworthy that clashes have erupted in Syria since Thursday between the security forces of the new authorities and supporters of the ousted president Bashar al-Assad. Hundreds of Alawites have been brutally killed, among the victims are also Armenians.
