Investigative Committee Reports on Woman Set on Fire with Lighter

In light of the widespread media coverage regarding a domestic violence incident involving a husband and wife, the Investigative Committee of Armenia informs that based on the report of A.A., a criminal proceeding was initiated on February 26, 2025, at the Armavir Regional Investigative Department.

According to the Investigative Committee, on December 13, 2024, in one of the villages of the Armavir region, the husband physically assaulted his wife, poured construction paint and alcohol over her, and deliberately set her on fire with a lighter, causing bodily harm.

Based on the factual data obtained during the preliminary investigation, public criminal prosecution has been initiated against A.H. under Article 166, Part 2, Point 7 of the Criminal Code (causing serious harm to health). A.H. has been remanded in custody as a precautionary measure.
