Change Regarding Issuance of Driver's Licenses for Dual Citizens
During the latest government meeting, a decision was adopted based on a proposal from the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, which allows citizens of the Republic of Armenia to exchange their foreign driver's licenses for a national driver's license without the need to take qualification exams. This regulation will enable dual citizens of Armenia to drive vehicles in the territory of Armenia without any obstacles.
Armenian citizens who possess driver's licenses issued by other countries will no longer face administrative liability if those licenses meet international standards. The regulation will permit dual citizens to operate their vehicles in Armenia without legal impediments.
Previously, the Administrative Code of the Republic of Armenia stipulated that an Armenian citizen could not drive a vehicle in the territory of Armenia with a license from another country, which created issues for citizens with dual citizenship temporarily visiting Armenia. The adoption of this project is expected to resolve this problem, ensuring the free movement of citizens of the Republic of Armenia.
