Azerbaijan Prosecuting Prominent Military Expert for Releasing Footage from Artsakh

The Nizami District Court in Baku has conducted a preparatory consultation regarding the criminal case of renowned military expert Adalet Verdiyev, who has been accused of disclosing state secrets and was arrested in November of last year, Azerbaijani media reports.

According to reports, during a media tour organized in the territories of Artsakh on November 22, 2024, Verdiyev, who participated in the tour as a military expert, filmed a video showing the heights where Azerbaijani combat positions and border troops are stationed. He published this footage on social media accompanied by his commentary.

The Azerbaijani Prosecutor General's Office states that on November 22, Verdiyev, who served as an officer in the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, “caused significant harm to the interests that ensure the state security and defense capability of the country.”
