Trump Halts All Weapons Supply to Ukraine: Bloomberg
The President of the United States, Donald Trump, has ordered a halt to all military aid provided to Ukraine, according to Bloomberg, citing a senior Defense Department official. According to the official, the United States is suspending all military assistance to Ukraine until Kyiv demonstrates good faith commitment to peace.
The source notes that Trump has instructed Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth to stop arms sales. The official stated that the supply of all U.S. military equipment currently being delivered will be halted, including weapons waiting in transit in Poland.
The Wall Street Journal had previously reported that the Trump administration has stopped funding for new weapons supplies to Ukraine and is discussing the possibility of freezing weapons supplies from U.S. stockpiles. The publication emphasizes that due to U.S. restrictions, Ukraine may be deprived of modern weaponry, including advanced air defense systems, ballistic missiles, targeting systems, and access to long-range artillery.
It is noted that the decision to potentially close the main channel of weapons supplies to Ukraine was made a few days after the controversial meeting between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House. During a press conference, Trump and Zelensky had disagreements over the Ukrainian settlement, resulting in a heated conversation.
“What surprised us all in the Oval Office was that it was unclear whether Zelensky would participate in negotiations and whether he shares our goal of stopping the war,” said U.S. National Security Advisor Mike Waltz to CNN. He reminded that President Donald Trump had previously stated that he would only welcome Zelensky again when he was ready to negotiate to end the conflict.
