Canada Takes Responsive Actions Against the U.S.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has stated that if the decision by the Trump administration to impose tariffs on Canadian goods goes into effect on Tuesday, Ottawa will respond immediately by imposing tariffs on American products, CNN reports.

“Canada will not allow this unjustified decision to go unanswered. If U.S. tariffs are implemented tonight (Wednesday evening Yerevan time), Canada (...) will impose a 25 percent tariff on American goods worth $155 billion,” Trudeau said.

He explained that the imposition of tariffs will begin with products totaling $30 billion in value, while the remaining $125 billion worth of goods will be subjected to tariffs within 21 days.

The Canadian Prime Minister believes there is “no justification” for the U.S. to impose tariffs, as the measures taken by Canadian authorities have reduced the flow of fentanyl from Canada to the U.S. by 97%.

It was previously reported that Trump announced his intention to impose tariffs on goods from Canada and Mexico. “There are no other options; there will be tariffs tomorrow,” he said at the White House.
