Arkadi Ghukasian on Azerbaijani Allegations Related to the 44-Day War

During the ongoing "trial" in Baku, President Arkadi Ghukasian addressed Armenia's involvement in the 44-day war, citing Armenia's role as a guarantor of security for Artsakh, which is essentially considered legitimate. This was reported by Tigran Abrahamyan, the secretary of the parliamentary faction "I Have Honor," on his Facebook page.

“At the same time, President Ghukasian refuted the Azerbaijani accusations that mercenaries were brought from abroad to Artsakh. Ghukasian also commented on the discussions that have been circulating for a long time in the political-information sphere regarding halting the war in its early stages, noting that he and Bako Sahakyan met with then-President Arayik Harutyunyan during the war, the purpose of which was essentially to urge the Armenian leadership to do everything possible to stop the war. I believe that the basis of this intention was the military-political situation that had developed on the battlefield at that moment, which largely coincided with the assessments of the Armenian Armed Forces General Staff, as well as the actions of the President of Russia, who believed that it was possible to halt the war in its early stages and avoid significant losses, primarily human losses,” Abrahamyan noted.
