Government Approves Ratification of Russia-Armenia University Agreement
The ratification of the agreement on the operational conditions of the Russia-Armenia University in Armenia was approved during today's government meeting of the Republic of Armenia.
The agreement was signed on December 20, 2024, in Moscow.
"To implement best practices and to promote effective interethnic dialogue and cooperation, the agreement includes provisions for the establishment of chairs and other structural units of educational and/or scientific organizations from Armenia, Russia, and other countries based on the university," the justification of the decision states.
The agreement also envisages a clear mechanism for allocating places for admission based on the Russian budget allocations.
It is noted that the agreement specifies management principles of the university and applies the principle of equal approach to the implementation of educational programs in accordance with the legislations of Armenia and Russia.
It is planned that the university rector will be elected for a term of up to 5 years. The same person may not hold the position of rector for more than 2 consecutive terms.
The agreement will be presented for discussion to the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Armenia and then to the National Assembly.
