What is the Health Condition of the Frostbitten Child in Stepanavan?
A 2-year-old child frostbitten in Stepanavan is currently receiving medical care at the Stepanavan Medical Center under the supervision of doctors. This was reported to Auroranews by the Ministry of Health spokesperson Mariam Tsatryan. "The condition is assessed as satisfactory," Tsatryan elaborated.
Earlier, the media reported that on February 21 in Lori, community police officer Yeginyan, social worker Alvard Davoyan, and local pediatrician Hasmik Muradyan discovered during a joint home visit that the underage child was in poor condition, with all basic utility conditions absent in the home, which had not been heated at all.
The pediatrician informed the child's parents—33-year-old Ani K. and 59-year-old Vachagan Z., residents of the Lori region—that the child required medical examination and treatment, but they refused to take the child to the hospital for a medical check-up. Following this, the pediatrician escorted the child, who was taken by ambulance to the "Stepanavan" Medical Center without the parents, where the underage child was diagnosed with "bilateral minor focal pneumonia, first-degree frostbite of both wrists and both feet." It is noteworthy that Article 247 of the Criminal Code provides for criminal liability for failing to fulfill or improperly fulfilling child-rearing or care obligations.
