Levon Kocharyan's Appeal to the European Union

The assertion that Armenia is a fully functioning democracy does not correspond to reality. This was stated by Levon Kocharyan, a member of the National Assembly from the 'Armenia' faction, during a meeting of the Armenia-EU Parliamentary Partnership Committee.

'There is a serious deficit of democracy in Armenia. There are pressures being applied to the opposition,' Kocharyan added.

He called on the European Union to make efforts to ensure that the displaced Armenians from Nagorno-Karabakh can safely return: 'We urge the European Union to take measures against Azerbaijan,' he concluded.
